NEW YEARS DAY: In our system's wake, winds will turn aggressively from the west/southwest, ushering cooler air over the region. Expect afternoon temperatures hovering in the 50s, nearing 60° for some with a mix of clouds and sun – feeling cooler amid the gusty breezes. Winds will fade after sunset with partly cloudy skies, dropping into the upper 30s and lower 40s.
WEEKEND PLANNER: Another batch of clouds will stream through the skies Saturday – turning the skies variably cloudy with highs in the lower 50s. A stray shower can’t be ruled out. Clouds will gradually clear Saturday night with lows falling into the lower to middle 30s. We’ll rebound to ‘near-normal’ temperatures for early January amid sunshine with highs in the middle to upper 50s.
LOOKING AHEAD: Heading back to work after the long holiday period will be easy with sunshine and mild temperatures invading the region to start off the week. Expect highs in the 60s Monday and Tuesday. We’ll be in the 60s again Wednesday, though clouds will increase as our next weather maker begins to move in, offering a chance for rain and storms Wednesday night into Thursday. The back half of the week will feature temperatures gradually falling back through the 50s as another rain maker gets ready to move in by the end of next weekend.
